Jessie Davis died in a car accident in Bastrop, Texas

On Behalf of | Feb 8, 2016 | Wrongful Death |

Jessie LaVern Davis died in an alleged drunk driving car accident in Bastrop, Texas. Phillip John Jr. was the other driver involved in this fatal accident. The incident occurred on January 4, 2016. We would anticipate that this case may result in a personal injury and wrongful death lawsuit, especially since John was reportedly arrested for intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.

Reports indicate that John was driving in the northbound lane on Highway 304 and Davis was driving in the northbound lane. The author believes that was when John veered over the median and crashed into Davis’ vehicle. A child who was Davis’ passenger was injured in the accident and her condition is reportedly stable. Davis died as a result of the extreme injuries she sustained in the crash. Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to Davis’ family and friends. We also hope the child has a speedy recovery.

There is simply no excuse for operating a vehicle while under the influence. Every time someone turns the key to start the engine it is their responsibility to ensure that they are not impaired in any way.

It is always sad to hear about car collisions, and this accident is equally as sad. The roads are always a place where unpredictable moments take place. That is why driving safely is so important.

What really caused the vehicles to crash? Could anything have been done to prevent this accident? What other factors are missing from this report?

Although the police are doing their own investigating, they cannot always be fully relied upon. There are some questions that may still need answers and some actions that may need explanations. Personal injury lawyers do not always rely on the police reports. They often hire private investigators to find the answers to additional questions. Investigators often obtain helpful information that is not included in the police report, information that family members sometimes want to know.

The facts of this case may support a wrongful death and personal injury lawsuit. The Weaver Law Firm understands that family and friends may have plenty of questions regarding wrongful death and personal injury lawsuits.
