Texas man involved in fatal accident

On Behalf of | Nov 29, 2013 | Wrongful Death |

The eastbound artery that feeds traffic into Beltway 8 close to Bammel Road was the scene of a fatal accident on Nov. 21 when a vehicle struck a disabled Chevy sedan, in which a young man had been traveling as a passenger. Authorities described the man who lost his life as being between 18 and 20-years-old.

The Chevy sedan broke down on the highway, and the two occupants got out of the vehicle and got ready to move it off the roadway. A woman who had been driving with her baby in another car continued to drive toward the disabled vehicle and struck it from behind, killing the young man. The driver of the sedan and the baby were not seriously injured, and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

There was heavy traffic and congestion on the roadway due to the fatal car accident. The crash remains under investigation, and the name of the deceased man has not been released. No charges have been filed as of yet.

Any car accident involving the loss of life is tragic, especially if the situation could have been avoided. The woman might have hit the other car because she could have been speeding, distracted or under the influence. She also might have been struggling with external factors that could have blocked her vision, such as sun glare. An attorney could work with authorities and review case records in order to determine the cause of the accident if the family of the deceased man wishes to pursue compensation. If negligence or distracted driving are determined to be factors, then the family could be entitled to a settlement.
