Houston toll plaza accident kills two and injures four

On Behalf of | Nov 19, 2013 | Truck Accidents |

A chain collision accident at a toll plaza near Antione killed two people and injured four others, according to authorities. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office reported that a garbage truck collided with an extended cab truck with four occupants and then crasjed a gold-colored Honda with two people inside. The dump truck then struck a pickup truck at the toll plaza, before colliding with a concrete barrier and catching on fire, according to deputies. The truck accident took place at approximately 11 a.m. in the westbound lanes at a Beltway 8 toll plaza.

The driver of the dump truck and the pickup truck were both pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants in the Honda were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Two of the four people inside the extended cab truck were also taken to the hospital, however, the extent of their injuries or their conditions remain unknown. The incident closed all westbound lanes of the North Belt, which caused a backup of traffic that stretched for several miles.

A Houston personal injury attorney may be helpful to a family who has lost someone in an accident. In an incident involving a commercial vehicle, there may be several responsible parties who contributed to the accident in some way.

For example, if the truck had not been properly maintained by either the parent company or the maintenance company, then both companies could be held liable to pay restitution to the surviving family. An attorney may have the resources to investigate the case thoroughly in order to find all contributing causes and responsible parties to list in a wrongful death lawsuit.
