A report has come in that Cody Cowen a wrecker driver has died in a truck accident in Victoria, Texas. Cody Cowen was 21 years old. Only one vehicle was involved so said the Texas Department of Public Safety trooper.
The truck accident happened early Saturday morning. The wrecker truck flipped on FM 1090. Cody was driving a 2009 F-750 about one mile northeast of U.S. Highway 87.
Our hearts and prayers go out to Cody’s family and friends. While Texas DPS claim that Cody drove off the road and over-corrected the vehicle, which caused the accident, we have more questions. What caused him to go off the road? Was it a vehicle defect? Was it a defect in the breaks or steering? Did this vehicle have enough safety features to save his life? Or was the truck deficient in safety devices? Did his seatbelt fail? These are that type of questions that an experienced auto accident lawyer will ask. Is this a product liability or a wrongful death case?
To help find out answers to questions similar to these in fatality accidents, our law firm utilizes a private investigator to examine the accident site and the vehicle.
The Texas DPS says that when the vehicle went off the road, its tires dug into the ground, which allegedly caused the vehicle to flip. The Texas DPS said the truck skidded across the road to the left before the vehicle flipped. The wrecker vehicle came to rest on its roof. Cody was pinned to his vehicle and died at the scene of the accident. He was not towing a vehicle at the time of the accident.
