Texas car accident lawyer tells of potential wrongful death case

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the case of a fatal car accident that resulted in the death of five people. The accident reportedly occurred around 10:30 in the morning on Highway 100 outside of Los Fresnos. A Toyota Corolla was traveling east on Highway 100 while a Toyota Rav4 was traveling west. The Rav4 veered into the eastbound lane and hit the Corolla head-on.

A Department of Public Safety spokesman reported that four people died at the scene of the accident, and the fifth person died later at the hospital. Authorities state that they believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. The two adults, teenage girl and little girl who were in the Corolla died on the scene. The two women who were in the Rav4 were both taken to the hospital. The 43-year-old woman who was the passenger in the Rav4 died at the hospital. The driver of the Rav4 is said to be in critical condition and could be facing wrongful death lawsuits.

The families of the people who died in the car accident could decide to file wrongful death lawsuits against the driver of the Rav4 if she was negligent. If won, a wrongful death lawsuit could allow them to receive money that could help them pay for their dead loved ones’ hospital bills and burial expenses and help make up for their lost earning power.

Personal injury lawyers might be able to help people prepare wrongful death claims. They might also be able to help them negotiate settlements with the defendants without having to take their cases all the way to court. If clients do have to prove their claims in court, personal injury lawyers might be able to help them present the evidence that validates their claims.
