Houston car accident with bike and SUV

On Behalf of | Jul 8, 2013 | Car Accidents |

In Houston, on July 8, 2013, a man was taken to the hospital in serious condition after he got into a car accident with a SUV Monday morning. Too often car accidents occur when a bicyclist is involved.

Investigators said a man was riding his bicycle and had just crossed a median on the 8200 block of Fulton near Julia Street when he crashed with the SUV. Car accidents involving bicycles should never occur if the driver keeps a proper look out and acts to avoid the accident.

Authorities said the injured man was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital. The people in the SUV were not hurt.

Deputies said there was no indication alcohol played a factor in the crash. No charges are likely to be filed against the SUV driver. But who was at fault? Did the car accident result from driver error? Did the driver of the SUV fail to keep a proper look out?

Sometimes it is clear that the damages and injuries sustained by a bicyclist are the result of the accident. And sometimes it is obvious that the sole cause of said accident was the negligence of the automobile driver. It looks like in this case, a detailed investigation should take place. Perhaps the SUV driver did not see the bicycle rider. Clearly and impact of a vehicle can cause the bicyclist to fall and be knocked off the bicycle. The force of the impact may be great enough to cause broken bones, and neck and back injuries.

The SUV driver may have failed to maintain a proper look-out while driving. The SUV driver may have failed to avoid the accident. If you were injured in a car accident and have questions about a potential case, give us a call.
