Reports coming out of Abilene, Texas state that Nicholas Rayburn, 17, was involved in a fatal accident. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 10 PM on the 7700 block of Buffalo Gap Road. Police believe that the accident occurred when Rayburn attempted to avoid debris in the road and left the road and hit a tree. There was another passenger in the car who was Rayburn’s mother, Sara Crutcher. Both were taken to the hospital, but Rayburn died from the injuries he sustained in the accident, while Crutcher is now in stable condition.
These sorts of accidents are not uncommon in Texas.
Reports coming out of McGregor state that Sesar Lopez, 24, was also involved in a fatal accident that occurred when his car swerved off the road and hit a tree. Police believe that the accident occurred in the early hours of the morning off of Wildflower Road. Law enforcement believe that Lopez lost control of the car, which caused him to swerve off the road, but it is unclear as to why exactly he lost control of the car. We wonder if this was a case of vehicle malfunction or if he, like Rayburn, was attempting to avoid an obstacle.
