| Mar 18, 2015 | Wrongful Death |

Nicholas Stearns and Christina Rincon Mendoza, 27 and 26, respectively, were involved in a fatal car accident in Lakeway, Texas, near Austin. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 3 PM, at the intersection between RM 620 and Murfin Road. Reports state that police were following Stearns, after the latter had run a red light at the intersection between FM 620 and Anderson Mills Road. This caused him to start speeding and driving erratically. The police followed him until the accident site, where Stearns drove through the intersection, crossing the center line of the road, and slammed head-on into an oncoming car. Stearns and the driver of the car that was hit, Christina Mendoza, died from their injuries. Mendoza’s passenger, Juan Cortez, also 26, was taken to the hospital in serious life-threatening condition. Reports state that he is currently on life support. Mendoza’s car rolled over and was hit once again by another car. The driver of this third car was injured and also taken to the hospital.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the victims’ families. We imagine that they have been deeply saddened by this tragedy. We also sincerely hope that those who have been hospitalized have speedy recoveries. We also wonder if this case could trigger a wrongful death claim.

The Mendoza family and others who have lost loved ones in tragic vehicle accidents could benefit from hiring a lawyer. A personal injury attorney can help the family of victims understand their options and legal rights.
