Five Injured in San Antonio Bus Accident

On Behalf of | Oct 28, 2013 | Car Accidents |

Common causes of car accidents include alcohol, cell phone use, bad weather, and even debris on the road. The driver of a bus, involved in a wreck on Friday describes a different cause, break failure. The school bus, which was transporting 25 children, crashed into a house in a San Antonio military housing neighborhood. Of the bus occupants, two children, a teacher, and the bus driver were injured. A minor in the house was also injured. We send all the injured well wishes for a quick recovery.

It is true that in these “modern days”, safety features are standard in most vehicles, but what can we expect from a vehicle, a bus, that is not equipped with seat belts? Could it be possible that the manufacturers use substandard break systems? Had the break system been recalled by the manufacturer?

Other factors should also be investigated as possible causes or contributing factors of this bus accident. Was the bus owner maintaining its fleet of buses properly? When was the last time the bus owner serviced the breaks? Was the bus maintained in-house, or was the bus maintained by a third party?

The driver of the bus may have been taking evasive action to avoid car accidents with oncoming traffic or could have been distracted at the time of the accident.

Although it is impossible to be 100% certain or safe in any aspect of life, it is reasonable for an individual to expect a certain level of safety when travelling aboard a city bus or a school bus.
