A collision at an intersection on U.S. 290 in Texas left three people dead and two injured. Texas State Troopers say the accident involved a Honda Accord and a truck with a trailer. The man driving the Honda made a left turn on a yellow light and hit the truck. Authorities said the fatal car accident happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 13.

The man driving the truck was seriously injured. However, his three passengers in the backseat were all reportedly killed on impact. A state trooper said the doors of the truck were open; the men in the backseat appeared lifeless, and one man was hanging out. The man driving the car did not have any passengers.

Medical personnel transported one person in critical condition to a hospital by STARFlight and the other with unknown injuries by ambulance to an area hospital. The accident happened on U.S. 290 and Belterra near Dripping Springs. A witness said about 20 people rushed to help within seconds after the motor vehicle accident. He said two people stepped up to direct traffic at the scene. The accident was under investigation. However, the officer said that the highway speeds of 65 mph on the roadway did not mix well with traffic lights.

Car accidents often cause catastrophic injuries or death. A personal injury lawyer may be able to pursue a claim for compensation for medical bills and lost wages for a victim. If a loved one was killed, a personal injury lawyer may analyze the case and pursue a wrongful death claim for the family against any responsible party for lost wages, emotional distress and other losses.
