Houston car accident on 610 caused by Jose Guevara-Palma

On Behalf of | Sep 23, 2013 | Car Accidents |

Car accidents due to drunk drivers are far too common in Houston. A near-fatal car accident during the early hours of Sunday, September 22 was allegedly caused by 27-year-old, Jose Eliseo Guevara-Palma. Mr. Guevara-Palma was arrested and charged with intoxicated manslaughter and intoxicated assault.

This tragedy occurred at 5000 block of South Loop East near the Gulf Freeway. According to officials, at about 1:20 a.m. a driver of an SUV travelling east on the South Loop access road drove over a curb and entered the freeway. The driver of the SUV lost control of the vehicle and hit a retainer wall.

As several individuals stopped to assist the driver of the SUV, a Toyota Previa struck the already wrecked SUV and propelled it into a 32-year old female who was assisting the driver of the initial wreck.

The 32-year-old female was hospitalized with minor injuries. The 46-year-old male driver of the SUV is hospitalized with critical life-threatening injuries. We pray that he makes a full recovery.

Car accidents like these can be avoided. One death due to a driver under the influence of drugs or alcohol is one too many. Although fatalities due to impaired drivers have decreased nationwide since 2006, the statistics are still frightening. In 2010 alone, over 10,000 individuals were killed nationwide due to drunk drivers.

If you have been involved in or lost a loved one due to a drunk driver or have questions regarding an auto accident, feel free to reach out to a Houston personal injury lawyer. You can reach a Houston attorney at 713-572-4900.
