On Behalf of | Aug 5, 2013 | Truck Accidents |

In a sad turn of events, three people died in a truck accident in Bowie County, Texas. It was a single vehicle accident which makes one wonder: “what happened?”

Is this a case of driving error caused by cell phone use or from being asleep at the wheel?

The accident happened this past Monday morning. Texas DPS state that it occurred around 6:30 a.m. on I-30 Eastbound just outside of Hooks, Texas. We suspect that the truck was returning from Mexico and onward to Indiana when it ran off the road. After the vehicle ran off the road, it re-entered the road and the truck flipped over. Seven people were inside the truck when the accident occurred.

Several people were ejected from the vehicle during the accident. The horrible reality is that 3 people, including one child died in this truck accident due to driver error. At least 3 other individuals went to one or more hospitals for injuries.

It is likely that the driver of the vehicle fell asleep at the vehicle. Falling asleep while driving happens way too often in accidents in Houston, San Antonio and other Texas towns and cities.

There are a lot of reasons why truck accidents occur. In this situation, only one vehicle was involved. But was there a second vehicle that caused this one to crash without the impact of 2 vehicles? Local police authorities should conduct a detailed investigation.
