On or around July 1, 2013, charges were filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident, accused of intoxication manslaughter. The accident occured at the Northwest way (U. S. Highway 290) and North Gessner service road. It occured at about 3 a.m. last Saturday (June 29).
The suspect, Guadalupe Armando Rodriguez-Rivera, is charged with intoxication manslaughter and accident involving injury.
The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences will reveal the victim’s identity.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer E. Morado reported: that Rodriguez-Rivera was driving a green Chevrolet Suburban southbound on North Gessner. They stated that the suspect ran a red light at the intersection of Highway 290. The Suburban then struck a red Cadillac Escalade, driven by the victim. The victim was traveling northbound on North Gessner and attempting to make a left turn onto the Highway 290 service road. The victim was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. Rodriguez-Rivera fled the scene on foot. But he was later found by a wrecker driver. He was then detained by a Harris County Sheriff’s deputy. The suspect was brought back to the auto accident scene. Finally, Rodriguez-Rivera was then taken into custody by HPD patrol officers.
