It doesn’t take much to understand why teen drivers are more dangerous behind the wheel than any other age group. For some, the new freedom of being able to drive around is complemented by an increased feeling of invincibility. For too many teens, however, they have to find out the hard way that driving recklessly can have dangerous consequences.
A recent car accident in Houston highlights these dangers. According to Houston police, a 19-year-old male driver was killed when his pickup truck hit a curb and slammed into trees at a speed of approximately 90 mph.

Police have not said why they think the driver was going that fast; a toxicology tests are being given to the deceased to determine if he was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
The driver had a passenger with him in the pickup truck. The passenger sustained a broken leg and had to be taken to a nearby hospital. There were no further updates on his condition.
And while it is certainly a tragic situation for the family of the driver, the passenger is now likely accumulating expensive medical bills and may have to miss work because of his injuries. He may be able to sue the victim’s estate for help in covering his expenses. While he probably shouldn’t have been in the car with a reckless driver, that does not excuse the driver’s actions, and he is ultimately the one responsible for the accident. It is never safe to drive that fast on city streets.
