Houston readers of this blog have read a lot to leave them disappointed in certain people’s actions. But what they should never have to read about is someone who is sworn to uphold and enforce the law trying to subvert it. But a Houston municipal court judge is now facing felony charges related to a hit-and-run accident.
The 75-year-old judge faces charges of failure to stop and render aid and tampering with evidence after she allegedly struck a pedestrian. The judge is accused of trying to hide evidence that a car accident even happened.

According to the woman who was struck, she was walking to her car in a Houston parking lot when she saw the judge’s car speeding into a parking spot for handicapped drivers. She was hit by the judge’s car.
The pedestrian said the judge got out of her car, which is when the victim asked the judge to call an ambulance. The judge allegedly got back in her car and drove off. The woman was able to get the license plate number, which police used to track down the judge.
While police waited for a tow truck at the woman’s house, they noticed the judge allegedly trying to wipe the victim’s handprints off of her vehicle. This led to the tampering with evidence charge.
It’s bad enough that the party in the wrong in this case is a public servant, but it’s made worse by the way the judge tried to violate the law by getting rid of evidence. The judge is supposed to help uphold the law and set an example for citizens to have a healthy respect for the law. Now she could be going to jail and potentially face a personal injury lawsuit.
