Reports coming out of Garland, Texas state that Crystal Nuncio, 28, a police dispatcher, was killed in a drunk driving incident. According to law enforcement, the incident occurred on LBJ Freeway, near Jupiter Road at about 5 AM. Police believe that Luis Angel Rodriguez, 25, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Rodriguez was driving the wrong way on the road when he collided head-on with Nuncio's car, a Chevrolet HHR. Nuncio died from her injuries while her two passengers, her two children of 10 years old and 9 months old, were hospitalized. The former is in critical condition while the 9-month old child is stable. Rodriguez was also taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. He will be charged with intoxication manslaughter and assault.
Reports coming out of Houston, Texas state that a 6-year old boy and a man were allegedly both killed in two drunk driving incidents caused by the same man. According to law enforcement, the first accident occurred at about 3:30 PM in the 6600 block of Fannin. Blaine T. Boudreaux was driving a Dodge 1500 pick-up truck when he allegedly hit another car. Inside the car were two people, one of them being Carmen Esparza, and a 2-year old. These individuals were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. However, about three hours later, Boudreaux hit Leonard Batiste in the 4400 block of the Texas 5 Spur, near the University of Houston. Boudreaux did not stop to render and assist and instead drove on. He allegedly passed out at a red light in the 1400 block of Lockwood and East Freeway. He was woken by the honking of another driver and subsequently ran the light and collided with a Honda Civic head-on. The two individuals in the Honda, a mother and a child were hospitalized. The mother is critically injured while the child, 6-year old Joshua Medrano died from the injuries he sustained in the incident. He was arrested for intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid.
Reports coming out of Chilton, Texas state Albert Patrick Garrett of Troy, Texas was involved in a vehicle accident that also involved an 18-wheeler. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 6 AM at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and State Highway 7. Police believe that Garrett was driving north on Highway 77 when an 18-wheeler that was driving west collided with Garrett's Chevrolet pick-up truck. It is believed that the 18-wheeler slid into the northbound lanes because of the wet weather. Garrett died from the injuries he sustained in the accident while the driver of the 18-wheeler, Louis Diggs Holms was not injured at all. We wonder if this case could trigger a wrongful death claim.
