Barbara LeAnn Raulston was involved in a fatal car accident in Paris, Texas. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred in the 600 block of Southeast Loop 286 at about 9 PM. Police believe that Raulston was driving a Dodge Journey and was waiting to turn onto CR 11300. The driver of a Honda Civic rear-ended the Dodge, pushing it into the path of an 18-wheeler. The 18-wheeler could not stop in time and T-boned the Dodge. Raulston was taken to the hospital but died from her injuries. The driver of the Honda and 18-wheeler were not injured.
Melissa Soto, 23, of Pomona California was involved in a fatal vehicle accident near Arlington. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at the intersection between Old Blue Mound Road and Farm Road 156 at about 8 PM. Police believe that Soto did not stop at the intersection, causing her to collide with a tractor-trailer. Soto died at the scene of the accident while two of her passengers were taken to the hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. We wonder what may have caused Soto to not stop at the intersection. Was it a case of distracted driving or perhaps a vehicle malfunction?
Reports coming out of Weslaco, Texas state that an accident occurred between a vehicle and a school bus. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 11:30 PM near the Texas Boulevard overpass. A PSJA ISD school bus with eighteen students was heading back from Brownsville when it collided with a truck. The bus was behind the truck when the latter suddenly stopped in the middle of the highway. The bus driver did not have enough time to react and rear-ended the truck. Fortunately, nobody was injured.
Reports coming out of Chilton, Texas state Albert Patrick Garrett of Troy, Texas was involved in a vehicle accident that also involved an 18-wheeler. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 6 AM at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and State Highway 7. Police believe that Garrett was driving north on Highway 77 when an 18-wheeler that was driving west collided with Garrett's Chevrolet pick-up truck. It is believed that the 18-wheeler slid into the northbound lanes because of the wet weather. Garrett died from the injuries he sustained in the accident while the driver of the 18-wheeler, Louis Diggs Holms was not injured at all. We wonder if this case could trigger a wrongful death claim.
Reports coming out of San Antonio, Texas state that there were a few minor injuries caused by a motorcycle-auto accident. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 11:30 PM on I-10 near Vance Jackson. A pick-up truck was travelling east when it hit the retaining wall of the highway when a motorcyclist in front lost control of his motorcycle and fell off. In order to avoid hitting him, the driver of the truck swerved and hit the wall. The truck's passenger along with the motorcyclist were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
A car accident in Handy Township, Texas left five people critically injured in the hospital. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 11 PM on the Nicholson Road overpass on I-96. A Nissan Altima was driving on the highway when it left the road and crashed into a Ford F-150 that was parked behind a Ford Ranger. When the Nissan rear-ended the Ford, a man who was in between the two Fords was thrown. A woman who was getting out of the F-150 was also injured because of the crash. The driver and two passengers of the Nissan, which included a man, his wife, and his 1-year old baby, were also taken to the hospital with injuries. The cause of the accident is unknown. We wonder if this was a case of vehicle malfunction or perhaps the driver was attempting to avoid an obstacle in the road, which caused him to lose control of the car.
Reports coming out of Forth Worth state that three children and one adult were taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision. The accident occurred on Texas 114, east of Rhome, at about 7 PM. Law enforcement believes that the driver of an 18-wheeler, Joshua Little, was eastbound on the highway and was turning right into City Concrete. The driver of a car, John Graham, was also eastbound and was behind Little. Graham turned to look backwards for just a moment and in that moment, the car collided with the 18-wheeler. Graham and the three children in the car with him were taken to the hospital. Little suffered no injuries.
