According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 2:30 AM on I-30, when a driver, who was driving west, crashed into a concrete barrier near Oakland Boulevard. A few people stopped to help, and this is when an 18-wheeler crashed into the group that seemed to be in the lanes of traffic. The collision may have caused the 18-wheeler to burst into flames. Three fatalities have been identified as Veronica Gonzalez, Mary Hernandez, and Clarissa Alexandra Banda-Castillo. Gonzalez's husband, Ely Alba-Gonzalez was also injured but his condition is not yet known. One person with critical injuries has been identified as Tracey Franklin. The 18-wheeler driver was also injured but not critically.
Reports coming out of Houston, Texas state that a person and nine other people were taken to the hospital due to a drunk driving incident. Law enforcement believes that the accident occurred at about 10 PM in the 1500 block of Gears Street, near Crown Park. The drunk driver, Jose Martir Salazar-Ramirez, was driving in the wrong direction when he collided head-on with a pick-up truck. Inside Salazar-Ramirez's car, a Mitsubishi, were two other people. The fatality was one of the passengers, while the other passengers, including those who were in the truck, were taken to the hospital. Included in the other vehicle were a few children, who had to be taken to the hospital as well. However, they seem to be in stable condition.
Reports coming out of Forth Worth, Texas state that Sylvia Zazueta, 24, was killed when a man crashed into a store. According to law enforcement, the driver, Isaac Adams, 19, was fleeing an accident scene at Riverside Drive and U.S. Highway 287 after Bobby Washington, the other driver in the accident said he was going to call the police. Adams and his passenger ran from the scene and the driver turned a corner in very high speed and lost control of the car and crashed into the store. The location of this accident was Riverside Drive and East Lancaster Avenue. Seven other people were taken to the hospital, including Adams and his passenger. None of them had any critical injuries. Zazueta died from the injuries she sustained in the accident, leaving behind three young children. Law enforcement suspects that Adams was under the influence of drugs and will be charged for intoxication manslaughter.
Reports coming out of Corpus Christi, Texas state that one person has died and another has been severely injured after being involved in a car accident with an 18-wheeler. Law enforcement believes that the accident occurred at around 7 at the intersection of Suntide Road and Up River Road. Police believe that the driver of the 18-wheeler was driving north on Suntide Road, when a sedan that was going on Up River Road hit the rig head-on at the intersection. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured, but the driver and the passenger of the sedan were. The passenger died from their injuries, while the driver was taken to the hospital.
