On September 6, 2015, a car accident resulted in the loss of the life of Canyon High School student Brianna Rodriguez over the weekend. Two others were airlifted to a hospital in Comal County. Although the names have not officially been released by local authorities, community members, students, and other sources suggest that the individual who died in the accident and those injured may have been from Canyon High School. A truck driven by a man crashed struck two females in a vehicle. One was able to escape the vehicle, but the other was trapped inside and died once the vehicle caught on fire.
On the afternoon of Sept 4, 2015, a car accident in San Antonio, TX resulted in the death of a Melissa Brewer. Three family members were injured in the incident. According to authorities, a drowsy driver caused the fatal accident. All four family members were driving in a pick-up truck with a trailer attached to the back.
On September 3, 2015, a major car accident occurred in Houston involving a pick-up truck and a Mack dump truck driven by fifty-two year old Arsby Robins. The driver of the 2015 Dodge pick-up truck was thirty-four year old Jason Omelina. He was airlifted to a hospital in Tyler, Texas due to his serious injuries. The accident occurred a little before 4pm.
Late in the evening on September 4, 2015, an 18-year-old girl driving a 2006 Mustang was found dead after a car accident on Alafaya Trail near the Unversity of Central Florida campus. Local law enforcement suspect that she was driving when her left tire popped causing her to lose control of the vehicle. However, the exact cause of the accident is not yet known.
Early in the morning on September 5, 2015 29-year old Edward Garrett Gottschall and his wife, 37-year old Nalee Yang, were killed in a car crash in Plant City, Florida after the driver of a 2008 Hyundai Sonata failed to stop. The driver was forty-seven year old David Thomas Flanagan. He was headed northbound when he failed to stop but an Isuzu Ascender SUV containing Stanley and Amy Dudek as well as their 1-year old daughter Sophia.
On Tuesday, September 1, 2015 a family lost a teenage boy in a serious car accident in Harris County, TX. The family was riding in an SUV when it was struck by a truck that may have run a red light. The teenage boy passed away after the serious car accident. His mother is currently in critical condition. His sister and father were also in the SUV at the time of the accident, but are expected to survive.
On September 1, 2015, a car rear-ended an Alice Independent School District bus around 4pm. 19-year old Brenda Lee Cantu was driving a grey colored Chrysler when she struck the school bus at an intersection. The bus was loaded with young students. The accident occurred in the midst of busy traffic.
On August 28, 2015 the family of Kevin Ward junior filed a lawsuit against NASCAR star Tony Stewart for wrongful death and negligence after the NASCAR driver hit and killed 20-year-old Ward on August 9, 2014 in a car accident. Ward died at age 20. The exact amount Ward's family is seeking is not yet known, but they claim that Steward's actions resulted in a "wrongful death, reckless conduct, gross negligence, and their son's terror and suffering" according to WKTV. Steward suggested that Ward was under the influence of marijuana when he exited his car and walked onto the track.
On August 30, 2015 law enforcement and first responders received a call regarding a fiery car accident in a 2008 Nissan Altima that resulted in four dead on Sunday morning. Those investigating the accident suspect that the driver may have been speeding when the driver crashed into a concrete barrier at a T-intersection in Austin, TX. At one point, the vehicle was airborne before landing in the parking lot. It was then that the vehicle caught fire.
Around midnight on Thursday, August 27, 2015 Julio Garza was involved in a major car accident resulting in what may be wrongful death. He was driving with one passenger when he struck a tree in the median. Sources suggest that he lost control of his car while intoxicated after drinking and driving. He was charged with intoxication manslaughter and has a jail bond of $30,000. He only was only slightly injured, however, his passenger died in the accident.
