According to reports, Brian Manring died in a Houston, Texas car accident with a Houston Police Department Officer. The officer was off-duty at the time. The unfortunate incident occurred on August 12, 2016. We would anticipate that this case may result in a wrongful death lawsuit, especially once the investigation is complete.

According to reports, the off-duty officer was driving on FM 1464 and veered into opposite lanes causing a head-on accident with Manring’s vehicle. Reports state that the officers smelled a stench of alcohol on the off-duty officer’s breath when they arrived on the scene but he denied taking a sobriety evaluation. Manring died as a result of the extreme injuries he sustained in the accident. Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the friends and family of Manring.

What was the cause of the accident? Was anyone distracted or under the influence? Are there any other factors missing from this report?

It is always sad to hear about car collisions, and this accident is equally as sad. The roads are always a place where unpredictable moments take place. That is why driving safely is so important.

Although the police are doing their own investigating, they cannot always be fully relied upon. There are some questions that may still need answers and some actions that may need explanations. Personal injury lawyers do not always rely on the police reports. They often hire private investigators to find the answers to additional questions. Investigators often obtain helpful information that is not included in the police report, information that family members sometimes want to know.

The facts of this case may support a wrongful death lawsuit. The Weaver Law Firm understands that family and friends may have plenty of questions regarding wrongful death lawsuits.
