Devon Lynn Lestage died in an auto-bicycle accident in Orange, Texas. The accident involved a police car. The fatal incident occurred on February 23, 2016. We would anticipate that this case may result in a wrongful death lawsuit, especially once the investigation is complete.

According to reports, Brian Latiolais was driving his police car in the east direction and Lestage was riding his bicycle in the west direction on I-10. Reports indicate that this was when the crash took place. Latiolais was not injured in the accident. Lestage died as a result of the extreme injuries he suffered. Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to Lestage’s family and friends.

It is always sad to hear about accidents, and this accident is equally as sad. The roads are always a place where unpredictable moments take place. That is why driving safely is so important.

Why did the driver allegedly hit the person on the bicycle? Are there any other factors missing from this report?

Although the police are doing their own investigating, they cannot always be fully relied upon. There are some questions that may still need answers and some actions that may need explanations. Personal injury lawyers do not always rely on the police reports. They often hire private investigators to find the answers to additional questions. Investigators often obtain helpful information that is not included in the police report, information that family members sometimes want to know.

The facts of this case may support a wrongful death lawsuit. The Weaver Law Firm understands that family and friends may have plenty of questions regarding wrongful death lawsuits.
