Two people dead in crash with drunk driver in Bastrop

On Behalf of | Oct 26, 2015 | Wrongful Death |

One man and one woman dead in motorcycle crash with alleged drunk driver in Bastrop County, Texas. The fatal accident occurred on October 23, 2015. We would anticipate that this case may result in a wrongful death lawsuit, especially if it is confirmed that the other driver was indeed under the influence.

Jaime DeLeon-Rodriguez was driving his truck on FM 812. DeLeon-Rodriguez suddenly crossed over onto the opposite side of the road and collided with a motorcycle. There was a man and woman on the motorcycle and they both died because of the critical injuries they faced. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those two people.

DeLeon-Rodriguez was taken into custody and had two counts of intoxicated manslaughter brought against him. There is simply no excuse for operating a vehicle while under the influence. Every time someone turns the key to start the engine it is their responsibility to ensure that they are not impaired in any way. This man has taken the life of two other people, which is the most heinous crime out of them all.

The accident is still being investigated by authorities. Although the police are doing their own investigating, they cannot always be fully relied upon. There are some questions that may still need answers and some actions that may need explanations. Personal injury lawyers do not always rely on the police reports. They often hire private investigators to find the answers to additional questions. Investigators often obtain helpful information that is not included in the police report, information that family members sometimes want to know.

The facts of this case may support a wrongful death lawsuit. The Weaver Law Firm understands that family and friends may have plenty of questions regarding wrongful death and accidents caused by drunk drivers.
