Bart Lawrence injured and Shawn Velie dead in head-on collision

On Behalf of | Oct 11, 2015 | Car Accidents |

Bart Lawrence, a Grayson County Commissioner, is hospitalized after a head-on collision in Sherman, Texas. The terrible car crash occurred on October 9, 2015. We would anticipate that this case may result in a personal injury lawsuit, especially if evidence proves that the other diver was at fault.

Shawn Velie was driving on Highway 289 in the southbound lanes. Lawrence was driving on the Highway 289 in the northbound lanes. Suddenly, Velie attempted to get in front of the car that was in front of him by briefly driving in the northbound lane. Velie ended up crashing head-on with Lawrence’s vehicle. Velie died at the local hospital. Lawrence had to be flown to the hospital for treatment of his leg injuries. His condition remains stable.

I am truly saddened by this car accident. On the highways there is no sure way of knowing what is going to happen next, which is why safety is important. I hope that their family and friends stay strong during this terrible moment.

The police reports cannot always be fully relied upon. There are some questions that may still need answers and some actions that may need explanations. Personal injury lawyers do not always rely on the police reports. They often hire private investigators to find the answers to additional questions. Investigators often obtain helpful information that is not included in the police report, information that family members sometimes want to know.

The facts of this case may support a personal injury lawsuit. The Weaver Law Firm understands that family and friends may have plenty of questions regarding personal injury lawsuits.
