Manuel Soliz Jr., 25, was involved in a fatal vehicle accident in Benavides, Texas. According to law enforcement, Soliz was driving on FM 2295 in a Mercury Grand Marquiz when he drifted over into the opposite lane. This caused an oncoming car, a pick-up truck, to collide with the Mercury head-on. The driver of the pick-up truck, Patrick John Hannom, and his passenger, Francisco Cervantes, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Soliz unfortunately died from his injuries. It is unknown as of yet why Soliz drifted into the opposite lane. We wonder if this was a case of a vehicle malfunction or distracted driving.

Reports coming out of Dallas state that Lucinda Rosas De Esparza, Paul Maltos, and Evelina Maltos were all killed in a fatal car accident. Police believe that the accident occurred in the Oak Cliff neighbourhood when the car that De Esparza was driving crashed into a building. This collision was after the car ran through an intersection and hit a car that was parked. All three individuals died from their injuries. It is unknown as to why this accident occurred. Similarly to the situation above, we wonder if this could have been a case of a vehicle malfunction or distracted driving. We also wonder if this case could trigger a wrongful death claim.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the victims’ families who we imagine have been saddened by these accidents. We hope that those who are hospitalized have speedy recoveries.
