Reports coming out of Sarasota, Florida state that Ashlie Marie Jacobson, 23, of North Port, was involved in a fatal car accident. Law enforcement believe that the accident occurred on US-41 and River Road at about 7:30 PM. Police believe that Jacobson was driving north on the highway when she lost control of her car. The car went off the road and hit a utility pole. Jacobson died from the injuries she sustained in the accident. Police believe that speed may have been a factor in the accident and may have been a cause of the driver losing control.
Reports coming out of Macclenny state that Johnnie Carter is severely injured after a pedestrian-automobile accident. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred on Woodlawn Road at about 3 AM. Police believe that Carter was walking on Woodlawn Cemetery Road when he was hit by Robert Force Jr., who was driving a Nissan pick-up truck. It should be noted that Carter was wearing dark clothing, which may have caused Force not to have been able to see him. It is unknown as to whether Force’s headlights were on, the speed that he was driving at, or whether Carter was walking in the road or on the sidewalk. Carter was taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
Reports coming out of Plant City state that a 24-year old man from Lakeland was involved in a fatal four-vehicle accident. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred on SR-60, near Bugg Road at about 11 PM. Police believe that a driver from Lake Worth, driving a GMC Sierra the wrong way on the road hit a Mitsubishi Galant as he was trying to avoid an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the Sierra then hit a Mazda RX8 head-on. This caused the Mazda to veer off-course and to collide with a semi-truck. The driver of the Mazda was ejected from the vehicle, causing him to die from his injuries. The driver of the Sierra, along with his passenger were taken to the hospital as well, in critical condition. The drivers of the Mitsubishi and the semi-truck were not injured. We wonder if this case could trigger a wrongful death claim.
