Jamie Armando Velazquez-Garcia, Angel Medina Ramirez, and Gonzalo Gonzalez all were killed in a fatal head-on collision near Sherman, Texas. Law enforcement believes that the accident occurred at about 11 AM on South Highway 289, in between Highway 902 and Mormon Grove Road. A Saturn that was travelling north crossed the center line and hit a Lincoln Navigator SUV that was going south. The three victims that were killed in the accident were all in the Saturn. Two more people, one of which was also a passenger in the Saturn, and the other was the driver of the SUV, were severely injured. Police do not know what the cause of the accident is as of yet.

Head-on collisions are not uncommon in Texas.

Sawsan Almilad was killed in a car accident in the Woodlands. Law enforcement believes that the accident occurred at about 6:30 AM on I-45 near Rayford Road. A driver was travelling south when they attempted to change lanes and lost control. The driver collided head-on with a Lincoln LS, which caused the Lincoln to hit the barrier of the highway. The Lincoln veered into the middle of the road. A Buick Enclave SUV hit it as well, as the driver probably did not have enough time to react and stop. Almilad and two others (a passenger and the driver) were in the Lincoln. They were severely injured. Almilad was pronounced dead at the scene while the other two were taken to the hospital. The driver of the SUV only had minor injuries. The driver that hit the Lincoln fled the scene.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the victims’ families and we sincerely hope that those who are hospitalized have speedy recoveries. We imagine that their families have been deeply affected by these tragedies. We wonder what could have been the causes of the accidents. Why did the driver veer into the other lane? Was there a vehicle malfunction? Was this a case of distracted driving? Was the distance not gauged well? Do these accidents trigger wrongful death claims?
