Our hearts and thoughts go out to the families and communities of the victims. We imagine they have been deeply impacted by this tragedy. We understand that they may have many questions.

What caused the driver to veer off the road? Was there a vehicle malfunction? Was the driver avoiding an obstacle in the road? Was the driver distracted?

Fatal car accidents are not uncommon in Texas.

Reports coming out of Burnet state that Manuel Galindo-Camacho, of Fredericksburg, died in an accident involving an 18-wheeler. The accident occurred in the 2100 block of Highway 29 East at about 6 AM. The driver of the 18-wheeler, David Shoot, lost control of the vehicle. Galindo-Camacho was not able to stop his car in time and hit the 18-wheeler. David Shoot was uninjured. Law enforcement believes that the cause of the accident was icy roads.

Recently, there have been very many vehicle accidents caused by the inclement weather, not only in Texas, but in the entire United States as well.
