Frederic Lemoine in fatal pedestrian accident in Jewett, Texas.

Frederic Lemoine of Marque, Texas died in a auto-pedestrian accident in Jewett, Texas. Lemoine was working as a power plant worker in Limestone County. Reports state that he was walking to his car in the parking lot of NRG’s Limestone Electric Generation Station on FM 39 when another employee of the same station hit him. Law enforcement believes that the accident occurred at about 8 PM.

We wonder what may have caused the accident. Did the other employee not see him in the parking lot? The accident occurred at night so this could be a factor. Were the driver’s headlights on? How fast was the driver going? One must consider that usually, driving speeds are lower in a parking lot and the force that it might have taken to injure the victim so grievously might be higher than usual, given the circumstances. Was the driver speeding?

As you can imagine, accidents are not uncommon in Texas.

Reports coming out of San Antonio state that Sydney Smith, 18, died in a car accident in Boerne. The accident occurred on Scenic Loop Road in Kendall County. Law enforcement believes that a Toyota went off the road and hit a tree at about 2 PM. There were three people in the car, all of who were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Smith died from her severe burn injuries.

Reports state that perhaps a cause of the accident was too high of a speed. The curve that was being taken at the time is the site of many other accidents. Police believe that this may be due to the speed limit signs, which quickly go from 15 mph to 45 mph.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the victims’ families and communities. We imagine that they have been deeply affected. We sincerely hope that those in the hospital have speedy recoveries. We do wonder if this incident could trigger a wrongful death claim, since Smith was the passenger in the vehicle.
