Stinson Thomas from Lufkin, Texas suffered injuries in an 18-wheeler accident. Law enforcement reports that the truck rolled over on US Highway 190, very close to the Jasper-Newton County line. The accident occurred at about 5 AM, when the driver of the Mack tractor-trailer rig overcorrected and the vehicle overturned. Law enforcement believes that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Though Thomas did sustain injuries from the accident, they were only minor and he was released from the hospital shortly after he was brought there.
As you can imagine, 18-wheeler accidents are not uncommon in Texas.
The driver of another 18-wheeler sustained injuries at another accident site. The driver ran off the East Freeway and crashed into a building. According to reports, the truck was seen going through a fence before it hit the building. It also hit six cars at a business and the only obstacle stopping it was the building.
Reports also note that the truck contained sodium bisulfite. Luckily, the content did not spill and explode, causing more damage.
The driver of the truck was the only victim that sustained any injuries. However, it is believed that he is in a stable condition.
Law enforcement believes that the reason for the crash may have been due to a medical issue that the driver may have had.
It is incredibly important to be careful when driving, but especially when one is the driver of an 18-wheeler truck. In one’s care there may be dangerous contents (such as in the second case) and any mistake that the driver makes could cause serious damage not only to the driver himself but to others as well.
