Kirk Lamont Follis dies in pedestrian accident in Lubbock, Texas.

Reports coming out of Lubbock, Texas state that Kirk Lamont Follis of Amarillo, Texas died in a pedestrian-related accident. Law enforcement reports that the accident occurred near Dawn, along Highway 60, at 4:30 AM. Kirk Follis had gotten out of his pick-up truck and was standing on the side of the road. The driver of an 18-wheeler, John D. Spurlock of Norwood, Ohio was behind the truck and moved to the other lane to avoid the parked car. Follis, however, was in the next lane and was consequently hit by the 18-wheeler. It is not clear as to whether Spurlock saw Follis or if he saw him and did not have enough time to brake. It is also unclear what Follis was doing outside of his car.

Follis died from the injuries he sustained in the accident.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the victim's family. We imagine that they may have many questions.

Why did Kirk Follis get out of his car so early in the morning? Was there a vehicle malfunction and he was attempting to flag down another person to get help?

As you can imagine, pedestrian accidents are not uncommon in Texas.

According to law enforcement, Martin Sexton of San Antonio was walking along the main highway of the 2400 block of Northwest Loop 410 at about 9:30 PM when he was hit by a Chevrolet Tahoe. Police say that Sexton ran out into traffic and the driver of the Chevrolet could not see Sexton in order to avoid him.
