Jocelyn Markham of San Antonio, Texas was killed in a car accident. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 1 PM in the southbound lanes of Highway 281, near Basse Road. The truck driver lost control of the car as she came to a turn and hit the retaining wall of the highway. The truck hurtled off the overpass and fell into a body of water about 40 feet below. Markham, who was eighteen years old, died from the injuries sustained in the accident. She is believed to have been the driver of the truck.

There was also a passenger in the truck, who was taken to the hospital.

Our support and thoughts go out to the family and community of the victims. We imagine they are deeply affected by this accident. We hope that the passenger of the truck has a speedy recovery and will be in a stable condition soon.

We imagine that the families of the victims may have many questions.

Reports mention that before the driver crashed into the retaining wall, the car swerved left and then right. Was there a vehicle malfunction that caused the driver to swerve off the road? Was the driver distracted by something and failed to pay attention to the road? Was there something in the road that the driver attempted to avoid? Does this accident trigger a wrongful death claim from the passenger of the vehicle or their family?
