News on recent Bexar County motorcycle accident.

The motorcycle rider that was killed in a Wednesday night crash on U.S. Highway 281 has been identified. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's office has identified the motorcyclist as Brandon Batres.  He was 23 years old. The accident occurred in the 21000 block of U.S. Highway 281 North, in the southbound lanes near Evans Road.

The medical examiner's office reported that Batres died as the result of multiple blunt force injuries caused in the wreck.  He was wearing a helmet. Unfortunately, sometimes a helmet cannot help prevent a motorvehicle accident. Brain and spine injuries can still result from a motorcyle accident where the rider is wearing a helmet.

Batres, of Cibolo, was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was headed southbound on the highway before the motorcycle accident. A police report shows that he lost control, causing the motorcycle to slide on its left side. Batres and the motorcycle became separated and slid several hundred feet, according to police. After the rider and the motorcycle separated, Batres ended up in the middle lane, while his motorcycle stayed in the far right lane, according to police.

Then, two vehicles ran over Batres.  The two vehicles did not stop.  But then a 2007 Honda Pilot, ran over Batres, according to police. Batres was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Honda Pilot driver had children in the vehicle. The Honda driver drove to a church to drop her daughter off and then called police to say she might have run over someone.  The female driver told police she felt a bump and swerved into the left lane. After she looked in the rear view mirror, she saw what she thought was a body in the middle of the road, according to police.
