On Behalf of | Oct 22, 2013 | Car Accidents |

Car accidents have claimed many Texans lives this year. A North Texas man who died from injuries sustained in a car accident with a train is amongst one of the most recent fatalities. Saturday afternoon, 43-year-old Mohammed Al-Tayyeb was crossing the Trinity Railway Express tracks at the 12600 block of Calloway Cemetery Road when a passenger train suddenly struck him. Al-Tayyeb was trapped in his vehicle and died at the scene.

This car accident occurred within earshot of Mr. Al-Tayyeb workplace, a trucking company. Family and friends believe that the railroads crossing signal or gates were not working properly. Co-workers of Al-Tayyeb also chimed in regarding the mysterious circumstances surrounding the accident stating that they did not hear the warning horn from the train. Was the train conductor distracted?

Al-Tayyeb was the sole occupant of the vehicle involved in this accident. Mr. Al-Tayyeb’s family is in the process of making funeral arrangements. We extend our condolences to Mr. Al-Tayyeb’s friends and family for their loss.

The 150 passengers of the commuter train have reported no injuries. If any of the passengers of this commuter train experience any symptoms of injury, they should seek immediate medical attention.

The Federal Railroad Administration Office of Safety Analysis reports 96 accidents in Texas involving trains from January through July of this year. The same report shows that Trinity Railway Express has not reported any accidents since 2011.

Train accidents are often far more devastating than typical car accidents due to the large number of injuries. They often occur with such alacrity that both motorists and passengers have no opportunity to take any evasive measures.
