Houston Car Accident on Westheimer kills Prius Passenger

On Behalf of | Sep 19, 2013 | Car Accidents |

There are too many car accidents on Westheimer in Houston, Texas. This past Tuesday, according to witnesses, a driver of a green Toyota Prius was hit and killed by a Toyota Tacoma truck. Witnesses report that the driver of the Prius was going through a green light and was making a left turn. The vehicle was turning left from Westheimer onto Hillcroft near Unity Church. That was when the truck driver who was traveling westbound on Westheimer allegedly ran a red light and crashed into the Prius driver.

Police officials said that their was a passenger in the Prius that suffered from injuries. The passanger was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. The passenger was in critical condition due to the severe injuries from the car accident. Unfortunately, the passenger died at the hospital. Our hearts and thoughts go out to this person’s family and friends as they deal with this tragic event.

Did the truck run the red light? If so, what was the reason? Was the Toyota truck driver distracted? The accident happened around 10:40 a.m. We would like to assume that alcohol was not involved. We are inclined to make that assumption since the police have not filed charges. Still, often times, these accidents are the result of distraction or not paying attention.

Police continue to investigate this incident. If you have information, please contact the Houston Police Department. If you have questions about accident law, feel free to contact a Houston personal injury lawyer at 713-572-4900.
