KHOU in Houston reports that a 54-year-old woman was airlifted Saturday morning after sustaining back injuries from a fall aboard a 29-foot pleasure craft 15 miles off Galveston. The news channel credits the U.S. Coast Guard for the report. Too often, people suffer from personal injuries in boat accidents. Luckily, this woman probably avoided potential head injuries or brain injury. None was reported, but some could have been sustained.

The captain of the boat called USCG Sector Houston-Galveston officials at 8:13 a.m. to report the woman’s condition and asked for assistance. Then, SCG launched a boatcrew aboard a 45-foot response boat to assist with the rescue. It was reported that the woman was in stable condition. First responders transferred her back to Station Galveston where Emergency Medical Services met her.
