Rollover accident in Houston kills 4

On Behalf of | Dec 27, 2012 | Car Accidents |

A serious accident recently on the Eastex Freeway in Houston claimed four lives and has left many people questioning what happened. According to Houston police, the four men were killed when the pickup truck they were riding in rolled over.

The auto accident was caused when the truck reportedly struck a curb at around 3:00 one recent morning, police said. The impact caused the vehicle to flip over. The driver and two of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger died later at a local hospital, and a fourth passenger was described in reports as “severely” injured. There is no further update on his condition.

There are no more details on what caused the accident or if police believe alcohol or drug use played a role in the accident. It is likely that a toxicology test has been performed on the driver of the vehicle to determine whether he was impaired at the time of the accident.

Something else to consider, especially in a rollover accident, is that something went wrong with the truck that caused the driver to lose control and the truck to flip over. A possible design flaw could be the reason behind the accident. In that case, the family of the driver would also have grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit.

However, if it’s determined that the driver’s negligence caused the accident, the family members of the other victims would likely consider filing wrongful death lawsuits against the driver’s estate. Many times, accidents such as this are avoidable by choosing to exercise more caution and better judgment when driving.
