A frightening crash that happened in Houston recently could have had tragic, disastrous consequences had it happened at a different time of day. Unfortunately little details are known about the incident, but a large number of disabled children could have been hurt in the car accident.
According to reports, a car slammed into the Smartie Pants Academy on Highway 6 in Houston. The day care center hosts approximately 30 children on a daily basis. Many of the children have disabilities.

Fortunately the accident happened on a Friday night, so no children were at the facility at the time. Imagine what could have happened if this happened in the middle of the weekday when these children were at the day care playing.
The owner said that there is approximately $7,000 in damage to the center, but she plans to stay open. The woman is also lucky because there was an event for parents at the center scheduled for the night of the accident. The event was supposed to last until midnight, but the owner canceled it. The building could have been filled with parents and children.
According to one witness, the car was inside the building when he came upon the scene. Witnesses smartly got the driver of the car’s insurance information and called 911, the owner of the day care arrived on the scene to see the front entrance almost completely destroyed.
Harris County police conducted an investigation of the crash scene, but it is unknown at this point what caused the accident or if charges will be filed against the driver. It takes a lot for a car to leave the road and crash into the building. If the driver was acting irresponsibly and people had been hurt, he or she could have been held liable.
