Jaylon Dykes died in a car accident in Robertson County, Texas. Gerald Steward-Dykes died in the accident as well. Torilynn Thomas was also injured in the collision. The unfortunate incident occurred on July 5, 2016. We would anticipate that this case may result in a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit, especially once the investigation is complete.

According to reports, a vehicle was headed down Highway 79 with Steward-Dykes, Dykes, and Thomas. Reports indicate that this was when the driver of that vehicle tried to turn around and collided with an 18-wheeler driven by Brian Ritter. Torilynn Thomas was hurt and is reportedly in critical condition. We hope Thomas makes a speedy recovery. Gerald and Jaylon Dykes died as a result of the extreme injuries they sustained in the accident. Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the friends and families of Steward-Dykes and Dykes.

What was the cause of the fatal accident? Was anyone distracted or under the influence? Are there any other factors missing from this report?

It is always sad to hear about car collisions, and this accident is equally as sad. The roads are always a place where unpredictable moments take place. That is why driving safely is so important.

Although the police are doing their own investigating, they cannot always be fully relied upon. There are some questions that may still need answers and some actions that may need explanations. Personal injury lawyers do not always rely on the police reports. They often hire private investigators to find the answers to additional questions. Investigators often obtain helpful information that is not included in the police report, information that family members sometimes want to know.

The facts of this case may support a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit. The Weaver Law Firm understands that family and friends may have plenty of questions regarding wrongful death and personal injury lawsuits.
