Officer David Ortiz died in El Paso, Texas car accident

On Behalf of | Mar 15, 2016 | Car Accidents |

Officer David Ortiz died in a car accident in El Paso, Texas. Carmen Hernandez, Angela Jasmin, and Raul Licio were involved in the crash as well. The unfortunate incident occurred on March 10, 2016. We would anticipate that this case may result in a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit, especially once the investigation is complete.

According to reports, Ortiz was at the Lee Trevino traffic light on his motorcycle, Hernandez was at the light with her passenger Jasmin, and Licio was also at the light in his truck. Reports indicate that this was when another vehicle came from behind and crashed into Ortiz throwing him off of his motorcycle. Then that same vehicle caused a domino-effect of crashes with two other vehicles. Jasmin and Hernandez were injured in the crash and taken to receive medical treatment. Ortiz died as a result of the extreme injuries he sustained. Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the friends and family of Ortiz. We also hope that Jasmin and Hernandez make a speedy recovery.

It is always sad to hear about fatal collisions, and this accident is equally as sad. The roads are always a place where unpredictable moments take place. That is why driving safely is so important.

Why did the driver run into Ortiz? Was the driver distracted or under the influence? Are there any other factors missing from this report?

Although the police are doing their own investigating, they cannot always be fully relied upon. There are some questions that may still need answers and some actions that may need explanations. Personal injury lawyers do not always rely on the police reports. They often hire private investigators to find the answers to additional questions. Investigators often obtain helpful information that is not included in the police report, information that family members sometimes want to know.

The facts of this case may support a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit. The Weaver Law Firm understands that family and friends may have plenty of questions regarding wrongful death and personal injury lawsuits.
