Reports coming out of Tyler, Texas state that Tyler Steven Galpin, 19, of Whitehouse was involved in a fatal head-on collision. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 7:30 AM on Highway 69 North and County Road 427. Police believe that Galpin was driving a 1995 Buick Century and he was driving north on the highway. Monica Cook, of Lindale, was driving south in a 2005 Nissan Titan. Though the cause of the accident is unknown, we know that Cook and Galpin collided head-on. Galpin died from the injuries he sustained in the accident, while Cook, along with her two children, Kathin, 16, and Paige, 11, were taken to the hospital. They are reported to be in stable condition. We wonder what may have been the cause of the accident. Perhaps this was a case of distracted driving or perhaps one of the drivers was attempting to pass a car on the road and did so unsafely.
Bass was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident in Conroe. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred during the night on Loop 336. Police believe that Bass, along with Deborah Bass, were riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle east on the 2900 block of South Loop 336 West when they were hit by a Dodge pick-up truck. The driver of the truck, who was turning south from Owen Drive, is thought to not have seen the motorcycle, causing it to crash into it. Bass died from the injuries he sustained in the accident, while Deborah Bass was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
Our thoughts and hearts go out to the victims’ families and communities, who we imagine have been deeply saddened by these tragedies.
