Reports coming out of Weslaco, Texas state that an accident occurred between a vehicle and a school bus. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 11:30 PM near the Texas Boulevard overpass. A PSJA ISD school bus with eighteen students was heading back from Brownsville when it collided with a truck. The bus was behind the truck when the latter suddenly stopped in the middle of the highway. The bus driver did not have enough time to react and rear-ended the truck. Fortunately, nobody was injured.

School bus accidents occasionally occur in Texas.

Two school buses from Crowley ISD collided on Summer Creek Road, near Risinger Road and Summer Park Drive. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 4 PM, the time when school usually lets out. It is unclear as to how the accident occurred, but what is known is that one of the school buses was rear-ended by the other. There were 60 students combined in both buses from Summer Creek Middle School. Fortunately, there were only very minor injuries sustained by a few of the students.

We wonder why these accidents occurred. Were these cases of distracted driving? Was there a vehicle malfunction in the first case? Fortunately, no individual was injured, but it is extremely important to be careful nonetheless. Especially when one is a bus driver, whether school or public, one is responsible for the lives of those in that vehicle. One must exercise the utmost caution and obey the laws of the road.
