Two car accidents occurred in Lubbock, Texas in the same week and in the same place. Law enforcement believes that the first of the car accidents occurred at about 6:30 PM on County Road 6900. Police state that a Ford F-350 van was westbound when it drove off the edge of the road. The driver seems to have overcorrected and driven across the eastbound lanes, into a ditch, and rolled over. The driver of the car, Kealy Landess of Colorado, was thrown from the car and died from the injuries he sustained in the accident. There were six more passengers in the car that were also injured, but their relations to the driver and their state of health is not yet known.

Law enforcement believes that the second of the car accidents happened at about 4:30 PM. A Dodge was eastbound on County Road 6900 as well when it moved over to the wrong side of the road. The Dodge hit a Humvee which was travelling the other direction, west. The driver of the Dodge was taken to the hospital while the driver of the Humvee was released, with no injuries.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the victims of the car accidents and their families. We hope that those that are injured in the hospital have speedy recoveries. We understand that their families may have many questions. Why did either car drive out of its lane? Was the cause a vehicle malfunction? Was there an obstacle in the road that the driver was attempting to avoid? Was this a case of distracted driving? Does the first accident trigger a wrongful death claim?
