Elisabeth Cano in fatal drunk driving crash in San Antonio, Texas

Elizabeth Cano was involved in a fatal car accident in San Antonio, Texas. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred at about 1 AM in the 5900 block of South Presa. A driver, Miguel Cortes, 23, was reported to have been driving in the wrong direction. He collided with the car that Cano was a passenger in. John Cano, her husband, who was also the driver, and their 1-year old child were also in the car. John Cano, who works in the San Antonio District Attorney’s Office, was taken to the hospital with grave injuries, while the 1-year old child was reported to be uninjured. The accident was made even more tragic because Elizabeth Cano was pregnant. Miguel Cortes was arrested for failure to stop and render aid and intoxication manslaughter.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the victims and their families and communities. We understand that they have been deeply affected by this tragedy. We hope that those that are hospitalized have speedy recoveries. We believe that this case may trigger a wrongful death claim.

Another drunk driving accident in San Antonio fortunately did not end in any fatalities. A woman was involved in a one-car accident at about 9 AM on the 13500 block of I-35. The woman’s car went off the road and rolled a few times off the bridge that was going over Medina River. Luckily, the woman was not reported to have any injuries and walked away safely from the accident site.
