On January 6, 2015, a Robertson County woman was killed in a four-vehicle accident on I-45 in Leon County, Texas. Demitrie Zanta Tubbs, a passenger in the Dodge Journey driven by Altovise Tubbs, died at the accident site. The driver was transported to the St. Joseph Health Center in Madisonville for medical treatment. Altovise Tubbs was reported to be in stable condition the day after the accident. Sadly, it was reported that Altovise sustained incapacitating injuries.
Rita Glover, age 62, was also involved in the accident. Ms. Glover, of Marshall, Texas, was driving a 1992 Buick Roadmaster, Like Altovise Tubbs, Ms. Glover was also transported to St. Joseph Health Center and was listed in stable condition with incapacitating injuries.
Cleavon Williams, age 36, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Impala with no passengers. Cleavon, of Franklin, Texas, was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield, Texas. Sadly, although Mr. Williams was listed in stable condition, it was reported that he also sustained incapacitating injuries.
The fourth vehicle involved was an 18-wheeler, driven by Elio Reies-Fuentes, of Houston, Texas. The driver of the 18-wheeler did not sustain any injuries.
Preliminary reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety (“DPS”) indicate that all four vehicles were traveling south on I-45 at approximately 8:45 p.m. when the Dodge Journey veered across the median. The drivers of the Roadmaster, Impala, and 18-wheeler were forced to brake in order to avoid colliding with the Dodge Journey. The sudden braking resulted in the 18-wheeler hitting all three of the other vehicles.
Accidents involving 18-wheelers often result in life-threatening and debilitating injuries to the persons involved. We hope that all of the persons involved receive the support and treatment they need to recover as soon and as completely as possible.
