Motorcycle accidents continue in America. Recently, a new fatality victim, Harold H. Eulert, of Topeka died as a result of a motorcycle crash. He was 85-years-old at the time. He was involved in a a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash Friday afternoon. The incident occurred on the Topeka Boulevard Bridge. Our hearts and thoughts go out to his family and friends.
His death may be the result of the negligence of another driver. This incident may have now resulted in a wrongful death claim. According to an investigation, a pickup truck struck the bike when Eulert was riding south on the Topeka Boulevard Bridge. The impact then forced the motorcycle into another truck that had slowed for traffic. Eulert was wearing a helmet.
Eulert’s injuries were severe. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment, but he was pronounced dead. These types of accidents can be avoided when drivers keep a proper lookout. But too often drivers do not look out for motorcycles.
In the south, in El Paso, Texas another crash occurred that involved three motorcycles along Paisano Drive. The police investigators identified the man killed in the crash as Benjamin Chavarria. His passenger was identified as Elizabeth Guerra. The driver of the 2003 Harley Davidson, Steven Manzanares, suffered non-life threatening injuries, but Devona Murillo was seriously hurt. The driver of the third motorcycle, Benji Barrientos also suffered life-threatening injuries.
The police suspect that speed played into the crash, but they should investigate if one of the other riders failed to control the bike and crashed into Mr. Chavarria’s bike. His family may have ongoing questions. And they should be answered.
