Houston Homeless Woman Wrongful Death, Victim of Dog Attack

An early morning dog attack has claimed the life of a Houston homeless woman. The woman was mauled by a pair of pit bulls at about 2:00 A.M. on Sunday near the intersection of Glen Prairie and Lenora in southeast Houston. This could be a case of wrongful death.

Two men, who were on their way to a convenience store, witnessed the incident. The two men reported seeing the dogs gnawing and tugging at the woman's body. One of the men immediately rushed to the woman's aid. In an effort to get the dogs off the woman, the dogs attacked the man, knocking him to the ground and injuring his hands, arms, and legs. The second man frantically knocked on neighbors doors requesting for help.

The female victim was about 40 years old and was often seen around the neighborhood panhandling.

Both of the dogs were female pit bulls each weighing about 30 pounds each. One dog had a history of aggression and belonged to an individual that lived near the place of the incident. The dog is in custody with its fate yet to be determined. The other dog and its owner are yet to be identified or found.

Dogs, primarily pit bulls, have a reputation of being ferocious and can cause radical harm, even death. Following a dog bite, victims could be left scarred and disfigured. Dog owners have a responsibility to maintain control of their animals. In a situation such as this one, a pet owner could be held responsible for an attack or even a wrongful death.

Individuals that have suffered a dog bite or attack can consult a personal injury lawyer.
