Josh Brent is a former Dallas Cowboy. He now has an upcoming trial related to the death of his teammate. The death related to a 2012 car accident, a possible wrongful death case. There are allegations that Brent was driving drunk when the car crash occurred.

If Brent is convicted of intoxication manslaughter or manslaughter, the former football player could receive as a sentence, 20 years in prison. It is also possible that he could also get probation. Brent was a defensive tackle who had played in all 12 games of the 2012 NFL season.

Prosecutors are working diligently on the case. There was a recent debate regarding another case in Tarrant County where that a teenage motorist got probation after being involved in a drunk driving crash that ended in the death of four people last year. We imagine that the Dallas County assistant district attorney working on the case wants to send a clear message about how they feel about intoxication laws.

Will any Dallas Cowboys players testify during the Brent trial? It has been reported that Brent was headed home during the morning of Dec. 8, 2012, after a night of drinking alcohol.

According to a report, police said that Brent was speeding in his Mercedes. That was when he hit the side of a highway in the Dallas suburb of Irving and flipped over at least once. Texas has strict intoxication laws.

If you have questions about civil liability in a drunk driving crash that results in serious injuries or a wrongful death, feel free to call 713-572-4900 to speak to a Texas lawyer.
