Whether minor injury or brain injury, Carnival Cruise is yet again under fire. In a case of déjà vu, another passenger has been injured aboard a Carnival Cruise Lines ship. The 52-year-old female passenger fell in an elevator while travelling aboard the Carnival Sensation. The fall caused injuries to both of her legs. The cruise line notified the United States Coast Guard of the incident. The Coast Guard proceeded to transport the injured passenger to a medical center in Florida. We send a big salute to the men and women of the Coast Guard for looking out for passengers of the Carnival Cruise Lines ships.
The cause of this particular accident is unknown. Perhaps the injured woman slipped on water or the elevator malfunctioned. In any case, Carnival Cruise Lines could be held liable for this woman’s injuries and damages. Luckily, this is not a wrongful death case. Nor does it appear to be a brain injury.
Any cruiser should make a mental note of the following. Cruise lines typically limit the time and location in which they can be sued. The time limitations can be as short as one year from the date of the incident. It is a good idea to read all the small print before boarding the ship, including the verbiage printed on your boarding pass. Should you be injured aboard a cruise, whether the cruise departed from Galveston, New Orleans, Miami, or any other port, and whether you are cruising with Norwegian, Princess, Royal Caribbean, or Disney, you should immediately report the incident in writing.
Given the time limitations and the fact that the cruise lines may try to negotiate with the injured individual in order to stall a lawsuit, it is wise to seek a lawyer sooner rather than later.
