This potential wrongful death accident happened on or around August 22, 2013. What happened? The Houston police are investigating. What we do know is that it was a fatal accident involving a woman 40 years of age. It also occurred at 4600 Almeda Genoa at 10:00 a.m. Our greatest sympathies go out to her family and friends. I hope the family will have time to rest easy soon.
After looking into police records, I found that the 18-wheeler was traveling east on Almeda Genoa. It was traveling in that direction when it struck a gold Nissan Altima. The Houston police department reports that the car pulled out in front of the truck from a private drive, but the Houston police officer was not there at the scene when the accident occurred. How does he know that the small car pulled out in front of the 18-wheeler that weighs around 16 times more?
How do we know the truck driver was no at fault? I think a deeper investigation should take place. This might be a wrongful death case. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene of the accident. Even though the truck driver was interviewed and allegedly did not show signs of intoxication, was he drinking? Was he under the influence of drugs? Was he driving long hours without sleep? There are many other factors other than alcohol that interfere with a big rig driver’s ability to drive safely.
